Marlon's Marvellous Movie-style Mansion

Marlon Brandon is an icon. The Los Angeles home he owned when he was 29-years old is for sale at the moment and I would buy it in a heartbeat if I had a spare few millions in the bank. Alas, I do not so I will just show you what my dream house would look like. I think my favourite room is the living room attached to the sun room and the huge balcony looking out on the yard. And as you may know, I love dark wood floors with white french doors.

A Surreal Surrey Mansion

I have only three words for this house: Oh My Word. That's what I thought when I was looking at the pictures of this gorgeous newly-built classical mansion in Surrey, England. For £17,500,000 (yeah me neither) it could be yours. For that price you would get 8 bedrooms, 8+ bathrooms, a marble foyer with staircase, a gourmet kitchen,  an indoor pool with spa, a private cinema, a 1700 bottle wine cellar, a 4-car garage etc. etc. They had me at "indoor pool with spa". The only thing I am not so sure about is the name of the mansion: Furze Croft. I guess it could grow on me.

Unelmatalo myynnissä: Hurmaava kartano / Dream home for sale: a wooden dream

Tämä hirsirakenteinen kartano Asikkalassa sulattaa sydämen. Päärakennus on alunperin vuodelta 1842. Tässä rakennuksessa vanha kohtaa uuden. Esille jätetyt hirret, iso varaava takka, upea lakattu lautalattia. Tapetit, yksityiskohdat, pihapiiri. Ah! Tänne muuttaisin, jos voisin.

I'm not sure what I love most about this house. Is it the beams, the wood-fired stove, the fireplace or the interior? Everything? I could see myself having tea and cake at the white table or read a book on the leather couch. The wooden house was built in 1842 and is located in Asikkala. It has been refurbished but it has maintained old features such as the wood-fired stove and fireplace. I love how the current owners have managed to create a perfect mix of new and old. And the rooms are so spacious and light. I guess the answer to the question of what I love most about this house is "everything".

Miss My's Mother's Day Gift Ideas

I love my mom. My mom loves me. My mom also loves flowers. She often buys them for herself but every Mother's Day we treat her to a big and beautiful bouquet. I know how to make my mom happy but what if you would like to go that extra mile and really treat your mom or your mother-in-law. Gifts for mothers-in-law can be a bit tricky (the pressure!) but I have some Mother's Day gift ideas which I hope will help you choose a great gift for a great lady and which I some day hope to receive from my daughter.


Gift Idea 1


Mother's Day provides the perfect opportunity to treat your beloved mother. Why not treat her to a nice Saturday and/or Sunday brunch? Brunch is very trendy right now and I have had brunch at several places in Helsinki (read my Cafe Deli Maya brunch review here) and find it a great start of the weekend.

Gift Idea 2

Why not take your mom to a nice spa hotel and treat her to some spa treatments? And if you really want to treat her (and yourself) why not go to a spa hotel abroad? I love spa hotels and massages so I will let my daughter read this post as soon as she can read!

 Treat your mom to a girls' night out. Theater, casino, cinema, rock concert, etc. The options are limitless!

If your mother likes a clean house but doesn't like to clean or is too busy to clean, treat her to a professional cleaner! You can hire a professional cleaner for a few hours or, if you feel really generous, once per week for a few weeks/months.

Spring Fair in Helsinki

Miss Mo and I love a good fair. Especially fairs which involve interior and houses. Last Saturday we attended the Kevätmessu (Spring Fair) in Helsinki. The Spring Fair brings four different trade fairs under one roof namely Own Home, Own Yard, Own Cabin and The Sisusta! Interior Decoration fair.

There was a lot to see. Whilst walking around we saw flower arrangements, sauna cabins, garden furniture, fireplaces, cute cupcake shaped soaps and lots of people with stripey shirts. It so happens that both Miss Mo and I were wearing a striped shirt without the other knowing. That just shows how in sync we are. Bloggers, best friends and striped shirt wearers extraordinaire.
